About Street Tree Revival

All trees have a life cycle. At Street Tree Revival, we are making every effort to save the trees we can from ending up in landfills. When trees need to be removed from the Urban Forest, we preserve their natural beauty and also limit carbon emissions by salvaging trees lost during storms, disease, or normal senescence and recycling this wood into usable raw lumber, live edge slabs, logs, and cookies.

Our urban wood offers a story unlike any other, as they’ve been salvaged from our streets… A true Street Tree Revival.

Our Roots

25 years ago, West Coast Arborists, Inc., (WCA) started an urban wood recycling program, now known as Street Tree Revival, in collaboration with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF).  (WCA) is a tree maintenance and management provider serving cities, counties, and school districts. Since a number of trees living within our City streets and parks eventually decline and require removal it became imperative to identify ways to salvage the trees we could and turn them into urban lumber, live edge wood slabs and more.

Our Process

REMOVE

We remove damaged, dead, or hazardous trees from local cities.

REPURPOSE

We process quality wood logs into urban lumber to give them a second life. Logs unfit for lumber are processed into firewood or ground into wood chips in an effort to produce zero tree waste.

Mill

Our sawmill operations are based out of our SoCal location in Ontario and our NorCal location in Stockton. Offering both live edge and dimensional lumber. We offer custom milling services at both locations.

Replant

Our goal is to replant two trees for every tree that we remove to maintain a healthy urban forrest.

TRACK

We tag quality logs in the field with weatherproof tags that have removal date and city information. This allows us to share tree history and track material from tree to lumber.

Dry

We air dry and kiln dry our material depending on species requirements. Kiln drying allows the wood to dry evenly while both stabilizing and sterilizing the lumber. It can greatly reduce drying defects in hard to dry species and increases yield.

Our Team

Guilt Free Urban Lumber

Today, our recycling efforts have evolved into an amazing Street Tree Revival program where we are diverting thousands of logs annually from landfills. By turning these street trees into useable urban lumber we are successfully capturing and sequestering wood carbon.
